DA BINNENKOER ANALOOG 2023 1 van 8
  • Thu 11.04 – 18:00 – Campo Boma

Through its tentacles within the broad cultural sector, Gents Kunstenoverleg catches many signals related to pressure on available space and how we deal with (semi-public) space in the city. Organizations have questions about shared use of space, sustainability, what to do after a temporary filling in, who owns a space and how to share their space with nomadic organization.

We invite Jozef Wouters to offer us a different perspective from his art practice and challenge us to work out concrete solutions to these questions in a keynote. Afterwards, we will be happy to discuss this with each other.

18:00h-19:00h Walk-in + food by SimSim

19:00u-20:30u Keynote Jozef Wouters (Dutch)

JOZEF WOUTERS

Jozef Wouters (1986) is a scenographer and theater maker based in Brussels. From Decoratelier in Molenbeek, he initiates various projects and artistic collaborations. In 2019, Jozef was awarded the Flemish Culture Prize (Ultima) in the performing arts category for Decoratelier together with co-founder Menno Vandevelde. Wouter’s work is often related to a specific location and initiates a dialogue between strategic spaces, social processes and the power of imagination. In 2020 his book Moments before the wind, a heterogeneous collection of notes and reflections on space, scenography, art making and institutional critique, was published with editors Jeroen Peeters. Since 2017, he has been an autonomous artist in residence at Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods.
